This course is perfect for the outdoor enthusiest who wants to increase their skills in the out of doors or that individual who wants to become a Registered Maine Guide.

We will spend evenings and Saturdays polishing your skills so you will feel confident preparing meals at a campsite, rigging a tarp, paddling a canoe or navigating with a map and compass. We'll discuss safety and risk management, weather awareness, wilderness living skills, boating laws, hiking and winter camping, what to do if someone in your group gets lost and more.

This course will help you prepare for the Maine Rec Guide State Exam.

Note: The State of Maine Requires that you have 3 years of experience doing the activity that you plan to guide. IE: If you want to guide a canoe trip, then the state wants you to have 3 years of experiece paddling a canoe. Please feel free to call us and discuss your experience if you have questions.

Many people take this course for personal enrichment and have no intention of ever guiding people.
