This 4 day Workshop is the last step toward Instructor Certification. The Instructor Certification Exam is an intense 4-day workshop designed to test your abilities to perform at the Open Water Level of Coastal Kayak Instruction. We run this in a 4 day format while many folks run it in a 3-day format. We do this to maximize your learning experience. The 4-day format allows for a more relaxed learning environment with an opportunity to go home at night and reflect on the learning's of the day. We feel you gain more from the learning experience this way.
Day 1 will be on dry land and cover such topics as: Lesson Planning, Giving Effective Feedback, What the ACA requires for Instructor certification and more. You will be evaluated on your presentation and have the opportunity to present a topic and receive feedback on your presentation.
Day 2 and 3 will be on the water all day.
Day 2 You will teach kayak strokes and rescues while demonstrating effective ways to teach paddling. After lunch we will video tape your skills and then you will teach the class some kayak rescue techniques.
Day 3 You will be evaluated on your preparedness and leadership abilities while you are leading the class around and responding to rescue scenarios. You may be paddling in Tidal currents or surf up to 3 feet.
Day 4 will be spent on land giving final presentations and learning more about teaching and barriers to learning

- Execution of several different Rescues
- Practice Rescue scenarios
- Ability to handle a variety of ocean conditions and group dynamics
