ACA Basic River Canoeing Course

Sure, you can put your canoe in the water and move it around…but, are you getting all you can from the sport? Do you use a lot of effort to move in a straight line? Does it take a lot of effort to turn the boat? Do you want to learn how to do these things with ease and have fewer challenges with your canoeing partner? This program is a must for people who want to get the most out of their canoeing experience.

Learn how to get maximum efficiency from each paddle stroke and save your energy so you can go further or just have more energy when you get to camp. On Day 1 We'll start out on flat water and learn the strokes, and then we'll take you to a moving water environment where you will learn to read the river and use the current to your advantage.

On Day 2 we'll head right for the river and put all of skills together and wrap up the afternoon throwing and catching throw ropes and learning basic rescue techniques. By the end of the weekend we'll send you home feeling a lot more comfortable with your craft!
